BUDDY BOOGIE - AGES 18mo.-36mo. and their Caretaker, Mom or Dad
We start out at the youngest age with a class formerly known as Mommy and Me. In this class the baby and caretaker are together enriched with song and dance and the exploration of music and movement. This is a fun class that creates a special bond between the participants and initializes the structure and setting of a traditional dance class for the youngest. A perfect fit to begin a long loving experience for young children and the art of dance. This class is typically held throughout the year in 6wk. sessions. Call or stop in to the studio to find out when the next session is being held. 

PRIMARY LEVEL 1 AND PRIMARY LEVEL 2 COMBINATION CLASS - AGES 3-6
Level placement is determined by the faculty of Dance FX.

This class introduces ballet to the young dancer through fun and creative lessons using imagination, props, and movement exploration. Tap and basic tumbling skills will also be included in this combination class. This class will perform two dances in the recital. 
REQUIRED SHOES: Revolution Ballet Shoes, Revolution Tan Student Buckle Tap Shoes.

 

BEGINNER LEVEL 1 THROUGH  BEGINNER LEVEL 3 COMBINATION CLASS - AGES 6 & UP 
Level placement is determined by the faculty of Dance FX.

A combination class of ballet, tap, and begins an introduction to jazz. It is our goal at this age to develop positive attitudes  towards dance and learning skills, basic ballet barre, body placement, and center floor steps in all three genres. These classes will perform ballet, tap, and jazz routines in the recital. Placement and advancement in levels is determined by the Dance FX faculty and advancement can occur anytime prior to winter break should a student excel and have proficiency in their current level.
REQUIRED SHOES: Revolution Ballet Shoes, Black Jazz Taps, Any color jazz shoe to start.

 

INTERMEDIATE LEVEL 1 THROUGH INTERMEDIATE LEVEL 3 COMBINATION CLASS - AGES 10 & UP
Level placement is determined by the faculty of Dance FX. 

As in the beginner levels, this is a class combining the three genres of ballet, tap, and jazz and will perform three routines in the recital. Ballet work is furthured more in specific technique and choreography transitions into more lyrical work for the recital performance. We go more in depth exploring different styles of jazz dance, including the popular style of musical theatre. Tap continues developing as we explore more in depth, rhythmic phrases, and sounds and get our feet used to movin' and groovin' and creating music for us. Each level gets progressively more challenging and placement is determined by the instructors at Dance FX  
REQUIRED SHOES: Black Jazz Shoes, Black Jazz Taps, Body Wrappers Half-Sole Lyrical Shoes or Capezio Pirouettes

 

ADVANCED LEVEL 1 COMBINATION CLASS - AGES 11 & UP
Level placement is determined by the faculty of Dance FX 

PREREQUISITES: 5+ years of ballet, tap, and jazz dance.

This is our most advanced combination class to date. All aspects of dance including, but not limited to, dance history, choreography, skills, anatomy, notation, strengthening and stretching of the body, and more will be covered throughout the nine month season. This is a class for the serious, advanced, intermediate dancer and will progress at a faster pace than any other combination class. Proficiency in all three styles of dance (ballet, tap, and jazz) must be visible and will be consistently evaluated and challenged in order to provide the dancer with a valuable and progressive learning experience. This class will perform three numbers in the annual Spring recital.
REQUIRED SHOES: Black Jazz Shoes, Black Jazz Taps, Body Wrappers Half-Sole Lyrical Shoes or Capezio Pirouettes

 

BOYS LEVEL 1 HIP HOP & TAP COMBINATION CLASS - AGES 7-11 (must have at least 6 to open the class)

This is a combination class of hip hop and tap dance designed for the beginner to advance beginning male student. We segregate boys from the girls during these tender years in order to develop the confidence and pride that leads males to choosing to dance with peers of either gender. This group performs two routines in our recital.
REQUIRED SHOES: Black Jazz Shoes, Black Jazz Taps

 

BALLET 1 - AGES 6 & UP - NON-PERFORMING CLASS 

This class is an introduction to classical ballet technique and is required by all competition team members. There is a strict dress code for this class requiring all females to be wearing only a black leotard and pink tights, and males in black shorts and a white tank top. Students will learn and develop the asic positions of the arms, feet, and torso while focusing on proper body alignment, posture, and muscle development.
REQUIRED SHOES: Any split sole ballet shoe, can be leather or canvas.

 

TECHNIQUE 1 & TECHNIQUE 2 - NON-PERFORMING CLASS

These classes are further extensions of the Ballet 1 class and will develop in progression of one another and continue to focus on the proper techniqe and development of the body. Ballet is the foundation of all dance styles, and to be a successful dancer, one must continue their ballet education and technical work throughout their dancing career. Students are admitted into Technique 1 after proficiency has been obtained in the Ballet 1 class. All advancements are the decisions of the instructors and can occur throughout the season.
REQUIRED SHOES: Any split sole ballet shoe, can be leather or canvas.
 

 

PRE-POINTE/POINTE CLASS 

This is an advanced classical ballet class with the potential of having a performance in our Spring recital. Students enrolling in Pointe must take the Technique 2 class. Focus will be on development of the intrinsic muscles within the feet and ankles, building strength in the hips, knees, and legs. This is a class for the serious dancer.
** Pointe shoes will be purchased once the season begins, and all students have passed the initial readiness exam.

 

JUNIOR POM - AGES 6 & UP

Students will learn basic cheer and pom team movement and skills. This class focuses on flexibility, strength, and pom dance choreopgraphy which includes jumps, tricks, and eye-catching movements. Pom is a popular specialty class at Dance FX due to the extensive experience Miss Tanya has having been a former professional cheerleader and dancer. This class performs a routine in the recital.
REQUIRED SHOES: Black Jazz Shoes

 

ELITE POM - AGES 10 & UP - MUST BE APPROVED BY INSTRUCTOR TO ENROLL

This is the advanced pom class and moves rapidly and is quite challenging for students. Focus is on strengthening the whole body and developing tight, sharp movements within both the upper and lower body. This is an excellent class to prepare students for cheerleading and dance team at the high school level. This class performs a routine in the recital.

TUMBLETOTS - AGES 4 & 5

An introductory class exploring the basics of acrobatic skills. Including stretching, strengthening, and flexibility. This class will perform one routine in the recital.
REQUIRED SHOES: Revolution Ballet Shoes

 

ACRO LEVELS 1-3

Introducing and developing in progression, acrobatic skills that lengthen and stretch the body in many ways. Students will learn the basics of tumbling skills and progress into an accomplished tumbler. Flexibility, upper and lower body strength, and stretching are intricate parts of this class. These classes will perform in the recital.
REQUIRED SHOES: NO shoes. Footless tights as students need to be barefoot.

 

HIP HOP - LEVELS LISTED BELOW

Focusing on today's hottest new moves, including styles such as breakdance, popping, locking, tutting, and jazz funk. Every boy and girl has a great time in hip hop class. Students must be uninhibited to explore and develop style, and most importantly, have fun!

MUNCHKINS Ages 5-7   -   JUNIORS Ages 8-10   -   TEENS Ages 11 & Up

BOYS CREW - Boys of Dance FX! (must be at least 6 boys to open the class)
JUNIOR GROOVERS - Ages 6-10 Competition Team Dancers
GROOVE CREW - Ages 11 & Up Competition Team Dancers

REQUIRED SHOES & CLOTHING: Clean tennis shoes or hip hop sneakers. Baggy shorts, hip hop pants, capris, loose fitting tank tops, etc. Leotards may be worn underneath these clothing items. No leotard and tights only please!
